The National Sports Council (NSC) Medical Unit is fully operational again following the successful completion of a series of upgrading works aimed at improving accessibility and making the facility more user-friendly for all clients.
The medical unit was temporarily closed to allow the works to be carried out, with the focus primarily on improving access for wheelchair users and persons with reduced mobility.
Among the key improvements is the installation of a permanent access ramp at the main entrance of the facility. A second ramp has also been constructed at the rear of the building, providing wheelchair users with easier and safer access to the playing field.
Further improvements have been made inside the medical unit, with additional ramps installed to provide access to the main physiotherapy area. Removable ramps have also been put in place at the two doctors’ offices, ensuring that clients with mobility difficulties can access the various services offered by the unit more conveniently.
The upgrades form part of the NSC’s ongoing efforts to improve its facilities and ensure that its sporting and support services are accessible to everyone.
With the works now completed, the clinic is back up and running and all medical, physiotherapy and related services have resumed as normal.
The NSC had temporarily asked clients whose appointments coincided with the closure to reschedule. With the facility now fully operational, clients can once again make use of the services provided by the medical unit.
The Council thanks its clients for their patience, cooperation and understanding while the improvements were being carried out, and apologises for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.
The completed works not only improve physical access to the facility but also reinforce the NSC’s commitment to creating a more inclusive sporting environment, where athletes and members of the sporting community can access essential medical and rehabilitation services regardless of their mobility needs.
