In our mandate to facilitate a more dynamic, unified and healthier Seychelles for the societal well-being of its citizens and produce a sustainable sporting environment, we vow to do our utmost to ensure that sport and physical activities remains at the Centre of all our deliberations. In achieving such endeavor, building capacity of our staff members remains a crucial element. In doing so a strategic need assessment must to be done to evaluate our current capacity, in order to elevate the National Sport council to internal standard.
The sport Federations and Associations also plays a vital role in Seychelles sport arena without which competitive sport remains at stake. Consequently, empowerment of our Federations and Associations is a sin qua none for the existence of sport at competitive level in the country. Establishing appropriate and meaningful international corporation will not only provide sport expertise, but also funding to support Federations in achieving higher level sport athletes.
The development of Sport Medicine and Science Research Centre, will also help us to lower the risk of our sport investment, as investment will be supported with scientific data and research evidence. This idea will in turn fortify the concept of result based management in sport.
In addition, sport is often viewed in isolation of its Psychosocial factors that regularly has strong impact on the athletes’ performance. Therefore, to have a holistic perspective of sport is another aspect for development in ensuring that all dimensions of an athlete is considered for better performance.
On final note, the strengthening of the community and leisure sport and that of Physical Education in schools remains crucial for sport development as it entails aspect of early talent identification which is then nurtured into competitive and high level sport. To ensure that our nation remains engaged in different form of physical activities, it is the assurance of a healthier nation. On the other hand, to have a healthier nation, is to ensure higher productivity level which will eventually promote a better Seychelles with high economic prosperity.
