Efforts have been initiated to draft the country’s new sports policy for the next four years. Stakeholders met in a scheduled meeting earlier today to discuss key objectives and strategies for the policy, to cover the period from 2024 to 2028, or the Olympic cycle.
The meeting included representatives from the entire sports community, including government, sports organizations and athletes. Representatives from the Youth and Sports department, which is responsible for policy planning, and the National sports Council (NSC), gave delegates an exact idea of the expected outcome from the meeting, through detailed presentations outlining the target for the meeting.
They focused on enhancing youth engagement in sports, improving infrastructure, increasing funding for grassroots programs, community an elite sports amongst many subjects.
The draft policy aims to promote inclusivity and diversity in sports, ensuring that all citizens have access to sporting opportunities for health and wellbeing reasons, or for competitive and high level purposes. Further consultations and feedback sessions are planned before finalizing the document.
